I have been self-employed for over 15 years. First as a DJ for large clients in industry and telecommunications. From 2022 in the tech business with software and web design.
From 18 February 2027, every electric vehicle battery, every LMT battery and every industrial battery above 2 kWh needs a battery passport. New regulation, new requirements, a lot of uncertainty, and barely any tools that make it easy for manufacturers to get started. So I built DPP Hero in 2025.
Mission
Digital product passports should be accessible to every manufacturer, not just corporations with their own IT department. DPP Hero makes getting started as simple as possible: capture data, manage it, export it. No implementation project, no consultants.
Vision
Regulation is getting more complex. We're building DPP Hero so manufacturers don't need months-long projects or external service providers. Self-service, standards-based, ready to go.
Who is behind DPP Hero
DPP Hero is not a corporation and not a limited company (no Ltd, no GmbH), but a sole proprietorship run by Niels van Veen, based in Hemmingen near Hannover, VAT ID DE309665873. There is no commercial register entry because this legal form does not require one. The full details are in the imprint.
Security without claiming a certificate
We hold no ISO 27001 certification, and we do not claim one. What is actually in place: data held in the EU (Frankfurt), encryption at rest, per-organization access separation at database level, rate limiting and bot protection on the sign-in paths, an audit trail for every change, and daily backups. The details are in the data processing agreement.
What happens if we are no longer here
Your data is yours and can leave the house in full at any time: as JSON in the Battery Passport format, as PDF and as QR code, through the interface and through the API. There is no proprietary lock. If you use your own domain, your QR codes point at your address, not ours. That is why switching stays possible without printed labels becoming worthless.
